Brownie Meeting - Valentine Craft and Enrolment

We had five very excited Brownies tonight, all ready to make their promise !

We started off the evening with a quick rehearsal of the ceremony, then got stuck into a very enjoyable craft of decorating heart shaped doilies and heart shaped biscuits.  They looked fantastic - especially once they'd been tied up in a bag with ribbon, ready to give to whoever the girls chose to give them to !  (thank you Cookie Owl for organising this, and for baking all the biscuits!!)
Parents, Aunties, Uncles, Grandparents, Brothers, Sisters and more - came at about 7pm to watch our ceremony.  The new girls all said their promise and Law beautifully and looked very smart in their uniforms and new unit neckers!
Don't forget that there is no Brownie meeting next week...... it's half term !!

Brownie Meeting - Quiz Night

Tonight we had a Quiz night.  A photo round to identify lots of Harry Potter characters, Olympic Round, Girl Guiding Round, Pot Luck Round and Children's round.

The girls all did very well and the results were close !
"The Quackers" were the winning team and deserve a big pat on the back !
Well done Chloe, Remi, Harmony, Katie and Jessica !!
Thank you to Snowy Owl for organising the quiz !
REMINDER TO ALL THE NEW BROWNIES - Don't forget that you will be making your promise next week !!

Castle District Disco

We had a great time at the District Disco today.  Lots of Brownies and Rainbows were there from our District.

Even the leaders did a bit of dancing !
Thank you to everyone who came - we raised £38 towards our Census bill !!

Brownie Meeting - Olympic Badge

Fluffy Owl introduced the girls to a special badge that Girlguiding have brought out for 2012 for the Olympics.

There are three parts to it, and we plan to do one part each term of 2012.  The three parts are all separate badges... which will fit around the main circular badge that was given out tonight.   (the badges are all "iron-on", but please make sure you leave enough space for the future 3!)

Tawney Owl came to visit us and the girls presented her with the cards that they had made and some flowers to say a big Thank You to her for all her time with our unit.  She is hoping to continue to join us for trips and holidays, so it's not really a goodbye!

Brownie Meeting - Pen Pals

Tonight Snowy Owl told the girls about her sister's Brownie Pack.  They have sent us some  letters and information about themselves, asking if we will become "pen-pal-packs".  Our girls put together some nice replys, which Snowy Owl will send to them.

The new Brownies started their pink books and have all been given Buddies.  They will spend the next few weeks working through the books and learning their Promise and Law, in preparation for their Enrolment on 6th February.

Six Brownies had found where the "Secret Page" had been hidden - Congratulations to them all - and we hope they enjoy the little chocolate bars !!

Kiera and Skye received their Swimmer's badges - congratulations girls ! (more sewing for mummy!!)

Smiley Bear and Polly have begun their 2012 adventures.   Watch out for "Polly's Blog", which will be appearing on the web-site soon !

Secret Page

Keep a look out for a little picture of an owl.... and you could win a prize !!

Just click on the owl and it will give you the latest password.  Tell Brown Owl the password and you'll get a prize!

The hunt for the Secret Page is open to everyone - but only current Brownies are up for winning a prize.... sorry!

Happy hunting !

Brownie Meeting - First Night Back

It was lovely to meet our six new Brownies....Jade, Katie, Leah, Lexie,  Nicole and Paris.

We heard about what everyone had been up to over Christmas and found out which sixes the new girls are going to be joining.

We had a few games and a rendition of "Good Evening Friend Brownie".

It was very sad to hear that Tawny Owl is not able to come to Brownies anymore because of her job..... but we were pleased to hear that she can still come on trips and pack holidays with us !!

Some Sports, Legs 11 and Diamond Julilee badges to those who missed them last term.  Kiera received her Friend to Animals badge and Grace received her Dancer badge.  Well done everyone!!

We finished off the evening by joining the Guides in a "flying-up" ceremony.  None of our girls on this occasion, but always a nice candlelit ceremony.  (Thank you to all those who were able to stay and join in - apologies to everyone, Brown Owl had forgotten to let you know about it!!)

District Trip to the Pantomime

We had a great time at the Pantomime at Stafford's Gatehouse Theatre this afternoon.

The Panto was  "Rock'n'Roll" Dick Whittington and was very very good..... "oh yes is was !!"

Many thanks to Freya's mum for coming to help us....... and also to Skye and Kiera's dad who was a good sport..... considering all the attention that he got from "Sarah" the Dame !

Happy New Year

....and welcome to Brown Owl's Christmas present..... some website software !!

Please have a look (although there is not much here yet) and let me know if there is anything that you would find useful to have included.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you on 9th January  (or 7th if you are going to the Pantomime)
